The Swift Current Broncos scored four
times in less than five minutes late in the third period to cap a
come-from-behind 6-3 win over the visiting Prince Albert Raiders in
Western Hockey League action Saturday.
Defenceman Michael Wilson scored his first of the season with
6:32 remaining in regulation to tie the game at 3-3.
Just 22 seconds later Brady Leavold scored an unassisted goal to
count the eventual game winner. Geordie Wudrick scored 1:10 later
and Leavold capped the comeback with his second of the night with
just 1:44 left in regulation.
The Broncos also had goals from Kyle Bortis and rookie Matt
Tassone, with his first WHL goal.
Prince Albert, who led by period scores of 2-0 and 2-1, had goals
from Lukas Zeliska, Josh Elder, and Matt Robertson with his team
leading seventh of the season.
Broncos goaltender Travis Yonkman improved to 4-1 on the year
after rebounding from a slow start. He gave up two goals on six
shots in the opening 10:01 of play before being replaced by Kyle
Moir who stopped all five shots he faced. Yonkman returned for the
final two periods and stopped 15 of 16 shots to post the win.
Raiders rookie goaltender David Aime dropped to 3-2 on the
campaign after giving up six goals on 39 shots. He had stopped 21 of
22 shots in the opening two periods before giving up five goals on
17 third period shots.
The win improves the Broncos record to 8-6-0-0, while the Raiders
fall to 5-6-1-0.
