David Backes scored twice and the Peoria Rivermen
relied exclusively on special-teams in a 4-2 win over the Hamilton
Bulldogs on Saturday in the American Hockey League.
Backes had power-play goals in each of the first two periods
while Mike Glumac added a man-advantage goal and Cam Keith a
third-period shorthanded goal for the Rivermen (4-2-0-1). Peoria
finished 3-for-5 on the power play.
Michael Lambert and Maxim Lapierre, with his second goal in as
many games, countered for the Bulldogs (1-4-0-0), who went 0-for-8
with the man advantage on the way to their fourth straight loss.
Peoria netminder Marek Schwarz made 31 saves to earn the victory,
while Bulldogs goaltender Jaroslav Halak stopped 26 shots in a
losing effort.
